TORONTO – Marit Stiles welcomed the endorsement of Amalgamated Transit Union Canada President John Di Nino and commits to improving public transit to make it more convenient, reliable and safe for transit workers and transit riders alike.
“I’m honoured to have the endorsement of ATU Canada, representing 21,000 transit workers across Ontario. These workers are vital to our economy, our communities and to the future of our province. Millions of people rely on ATU members to get to work and school every single day. Whether that transit worker is operating a vehicle, maintaining the system or helping riders find their way around town – ATU members help cities move. I’m committed to ensuring they have safe work environments and that their jobs are secure against Liberal and Conservative attempts to privatize and contract out their crucial work."
Quote:
“Marit knows the importance of public transit and the workers who deliver and maintain it. I know she will be a champion for keeping transit public and defending the rights of transit workers across Ontario. I’m proud to endorse Marit for premier, and look forward to an Ontario NDP government that’s on the side of transit workers and riders across Ontario."
